    Mid-February 2010 Trip: DAY 1

A family trip to Nepal wasn't such a bad idea, at first I wasn't sure what to expect arriving to Nepal but a blurry concept of Indian (the Asian Indian) culture spread through my mind. When I arrived, I didn't expect it to be so backward which was kinda shocking because I live in a place that's kinda backward so I didn't expect the place to be that bad. The good thing about it though was that every morning when I woke up in the morning I can always get the view of the Himalayan mountain ranges which was quite astounding. We were also near a famous flea market called "Thamel" and mostly everything you need is there from good restaurants, hotels, groceries and the local dealers of Marijuana. On the next morning, I had my usual coffee and we proceeded to go around Kathmandu (capital of Nepal). Nepal has so many temples called Stupas and when we arrived, the place was quite dirty and crowded.

The place was also full of these weird temple tops. They say the more you spin the more luck and prosperity you'll get in the future so we took our time spinning them. Nepal also has a lot of flea markets which they sell a lot of trinkets and nik-naks. Some stuff were kinds weird which I don't even know what use they are except for displaying. There were also a lot of embroidery businesses there and all were hand made, I never knew it takes months to years just to get one finished especially with all the details done to it. The food in Nepal was nothing I have ever tasted before. For those who like to eat Indian food and curry, then this is the place to be the food here is so good it would make my mouth water just thinking about it. If you are a food blogger then Nepal is one of the places to try.

After lunch, we resumed our trip by visiting Nepal's old temples. The site was a UNESCO site where indigenous people were living. It was a unique way of showing a poor country displaying their locals mixed with their heritage sites. The scenery was quite astounding, it was so natural leaving the old structure without any sign of renovation just to rot but still gives you the sense of knowing how priceless they are.

Day 2

On the second day of the trip, we head for Nagarkot to catch a nice view of the Himalayan mountains and the gorgeous sunset. The trip took about 2 hours to get there with a view of farm lands and plains everywhere but it was worth it seeing the enormous mountains which looks like a huge wall of sharp rocks blocking anything that might cross. As we strolled through the mountains, you can also see the pottery and how poor people are like a girl carrying a pale almost her size down a steep staircase then bringing it back up again. Makes you feel how lucky we are having the luxury we have while the people here live the simple life with no complaints of whatsoever even leaving smiles as we pass by.

We reached the Nagarkot sight and it was another breath taking view seeing the titanic mountains. They have a small outpost seated on one of the mountains giving us a perfect view of the Himalayan mountains. We experienced a strong wind pounding the outpost and the place really held its ground just vibrating a bit (which scared me a bit) but you'll get used to it as soon as you realize it's quite strong. We had a cup of hot chocolate together with Sherpa our tour guide as we look towards the jagged mountains. The peaks look like sharp rocks able to slice a piece of meat out from the sky. The feeling was like camping out since the setting was so primitive and as the sun slowly went down we to started heading down and arrived at our hotel in the evening. The experience was really relaxing and next time, I'll go hiking in one of their mountains.
